Giles’ original paintings have continued to prove increasingly popular. One of the key features of his paintings is the very distinctive framing and presentation. Each frame is handmade by Giles himself. As he says, “for me the frame is just as much an integral part of the final piece as the painting. So, as such, they need to be created with the individual piece in mind”. A distinctive element of Giles’ work has been the hand-titled labelling of each piece down the side of the frame. Until now.
From December 2020 all new works will feature a bespoke manufactured metal name plate curved around the right-hand edge of each frame. Giles explains, “I have never been keen on my full signature appearing on the face of my paintings. I feel it can distract from the image itself. Instead I prefer to use a simple ‘G’. This is a way of getting my name on the work without impinging on the painting itself”.
The title of the work – and Giles’ signature – will now appear on the reverse of the painting, celebrating each work’s individuality.
